Integrating Health and Human Services in Rural Communities

Description:
The Rural Health Information Hub and the NORC Walsh Center for Rural Health Analysis will introduce a new Rural Services Integration Toolkit designed to help rural communities improve access to health and human services. Developed by NORC on behalf of the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP), the toolkit identifies model programs and resources that will benefit rural communities seeking to implement services integration programs. A key focus area of the toolkit is to provide best practices for implementing services integration programs that support children and families living in poverty in rural communities. This webinar will feature two examples of successful programs funded by FORHP, including lessons learned. 

New Voices in Global Health 2016

Description:
The New Voices in Global Health (NVGH) initiative promotes the active participation of young scientists in the World Health Summit (WHS). It is supported by the M8 Alliance of Academic Health Centers, Universities and National Academies. The NVGH is aimed at empowering research, policy and advocacy initiatives among future leaders in global health, who are invited to send in abstracts of their scientific work and ideas.

Selected candidates will present their work in a special poster exhibition, thus playing an active role in the WHS. Abstracts will be published digitally at www.worldhealthsummit.org.

The PDRC invites all who participate in diabetes-related research to present their work at a special poster session to be held during the PDRC Research Symposium.
The symposium and poster session will be held at the Washington University School of Medicine's Eric P Newman Education Center.

2016 National Tribal Public Health Summit

All persons attending any component of the NIHB National Tribal Public Health Summit must register for the Summit. Presenters and exhibitors arenot exempt from registration and registration fees.
Summit registration is ONLY for those who wish to attend the Summit activities. There are no partial or event-specific registrations available for the Summit. So persons only able to attend a portion of the Summit must still register and pay the entire fee amount.
A single registration will provide the following to a single person: one Summit packet, admittance to all Summit activities (including the opening reception, plenary sessions, local host activities, exhibit hall and marketplace, Summit breakout sessions), and namebadge.
NIHB utilizes an online registration process, and will process payments for registration fees online as well. NIHB will also accepted mailed checks for registration fees. PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH OR FAX COPIES OF CHECKS FOR REGISTRATION. NIHB will not invoice for registration and Purchase Orders will not be accepted in lieu of payment.
It is important to respond to all questions in the registration form in order to expedite the registration and confirmation process. Please know how you are going to pay for the registration fees before beginning the registration form.

This year the conference will celebrate its 37^th year on February 26, 2016 at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The 2016 theme is “In Solidarity: The Role of Public Health in Social Justice” and will explore the intersection of public health and social justice work. The conference will highlight opportunities for public health researchers and practitioners and social justice advocates to learn from each other to identify best practices for prioritizing minority health and fostering inclusive strategies for change. In addition to keynote lectures and breakout sessions, the 37th annual conference will be the first to feature an interactive skill-building workshop for participants. APHA 2016 Annual Meeting & Expo Call for Abstracts

The American Public Health Association is now accepting abstracts for the APHA 2016 Annual Meeting & Expo.
The theme of the meeting is Creating the Healthiest Nation: Ensuring the Right to Health. Authors are encouraged to submit abstracts on the theme and current and emerging public health issues.

General Information

Submission Deadline — Abstracts are due between Feb. 22-26. See the list of components below for specific deadlines. Deadlines will not be extended.
Abstract Notification — Presenters will be notified via email of abstract status on Wed. June 1, 2016. Please make sure your email address is correct and up-to-date.
Registration and Membership — You do not have to be an APHA member to submit an abstract. However, if your abstract is accepted for presentation, the presenting author MUST become an APHA Individual member and MUST register for the Annual Meeting by the pre-registration deadline (membership does not apply to Faculty of APHA Learning Institutes or Speakers of invited sessions).
Author Disclaimer — Opinions expressed by a speaker represent only the opinions of the speaker and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of the American Public Health Association.
Penalties — Presenters who fail to show up for their scheduled presentations without notifying the program planner of cancellation will not be permitted to present papers or posters at any APHA-sponsored meeting for two years following the "no-show."
Publication Embargo — Abstracts submitted and accepted for the APHA Annual Meeting may not be presented at any other meeting or published prior to Mon. Oct. 31, 2016. Session Types — Three types of sessions are presented at the Annual Meeting; Oral, Poster and Roundtable. Please note there are a limited number of roundtable sessions available. Individuals may submit as either an Oral or Poster or indicate "no preference." Oral presentations will be placed in either the formal theater style session or a roundtable session. Standard AV — All oral scientific session rooms are equipped with an LCD projector, computer and screen. Internet and video capabilities are NOT included.
